Olympics in Paris & security is unprecedented. The opening ceremony will be different as it will not be in a stadium but rather on the Seine where athletes & dignitaries will float by crowds of 300,000 lining up the banks on both sides of the river. According to French officials, some 35,000 police will be on patrol at Games sites, adjoining areas, subways, & government buildings nearby. They will be supported by 18,000 military personnel & 2,200 foreign police from 46 countries. France has been repeatedly attacked by Islamic militants which is the public's greatest fear, but it is actually third on the list. Number one is disruption of the games by youth riots, protests, or strikes. Second is cyber-attacks with the top potential villain Russia who has been banned from the games for its invasion of Ukraine. |

Prince Harry to receive an ESPY for his work with veterans via Invictus. The award is named for Pat Tillman. For you Limeys, Pat Tillman was a pro football player who gave up his NFL career after 9/11 joined the army & was KIA in Afghanistan. Tillman's mother was shocked the prince got the award saying there were others more qualified. |
