April 1, 2026 April Fool's Day.

In the ancient world, New Year's Day was April 1. Pope Gregory changed it to

January 1 with the Gregorian Calendar, https://www.catholic365.com/article/44586/will-the-new-year-start-on-january-1-or-april-1-the-new-year-brings-april-fools-.html .

The people that continued to celebrate April 1 as New Year's Day, were called fools.

This is why, April 1 is called April Fool's Day.

Under the Julian Calendar News Year's Day was 25 March, so I don't think it has anything to do with that. And if you're wondering why 25 March it's because it's nine months before Jesus was born. GB and the British Empire was one of the last countries to accept 1 January as New Year's Day from 1753.

April 16, 1945 General Patton forces German citizens of a local town, Weimar to view the recently liberated Buchenwald concentration camp. None of them knew what was happening there prior to & during WWII. Or so they claimed.

Some cultures celebrated March 25 others April 1. Some people started the celebration

on March 25 and used April 1 for New Year's Day.

If you look at British and North American church registers from the years before 1752 you'll see people baptized, married or buried on 24 March in 1740 for instance were followed the next day by baptisms, marriages and burials on 25 March 1741.

Queen Elizabeth I died on New Year's Eve (24 March) 1602, that is to say by our reckoning 24 March 1603.

If this mission around the moon goes as planned, the next mission will be to build a station on moon with the next stop being Mars.

Bases on the Moon and missions to Mars all seem rather fanciful to me. Better concentrate on more immediate matters down here.
