Re:ON THIS DATE Date Posted:2025-09-10 02:03:58Copy HTML Both the UK and the US are countries of law. Our rights and responsibilities are second to none. Both countries have prosecutors who are either incapable or unwilling to enforce the laws. The responsibility lies at the foot of every voter. Charlotte, NC gave the murderer rights he did not have.

The British victory over the French in the French & Indian War created the first British Empire. King George III feared a successful American rebellion in the Revolutionary war would inspire insurrections in Canada, Ireland, India, & the West Indian sugar islands, crippling or even destroying the nascent empire. The entry of England's hereditary enemies, France, Spain, & the Netherlands raised the stakes & helped bolster British support for the king's determination to fight. George III was not the tyrant Thomas Jefferson called him in the Declaration of Independence. He was a constitutional monarch who was 22 when he ascended the throne in 1760. A patron of the arts and sciences and a child of the Enlightenment, George III reigned for almost 60 years.

Re:ON THIS DATE Date Posted:2025-09-11 08:02:11Copy HTML Yes, George III was not a tyrant and has been wrongly vilified over the years as the madman who lost America. His nickname at the time was Farmer George, which sums him up perfectly. He lived to be 81 and was King for 59 years, yet never travelled abroad (he was King of Ireland and Elector of Hanover) nor did he travel more than 150 miles from London. You're playing chess with Fate and Fate's winning.

The Great Seal of the United States approved as the bald eagle. In its talons, the eagle clutches an olive branch and arrows, which denote the power of peace and war. The eagle casts it gaze toward the olive branch, signifying that our nation desires to pursue peace but stands ready to defend itself. |

It was "The Regulars are coming" because everyone was British. Or maybe Revere didn't say anything, but it was the girl who now gets credit for the "ride." Or maybe that other feller? |
