During the French upheaval known as the Fronde, an angry, armed Parisian mob stormed into the palace to find the 10-year-old King Louis IV peacefully asleep in his chambers. This temporarily defused their violent intent & they left the child King unharmed. In later years this event may have influenced the decision of King Louis XIV to move the palace away from Paris to Versailles. |

Re:ON THIS DATE Date Posted:2025-02-24 07:29:50Copy HTML Secretary of Defense Hegseth, under Trump, just fired 4-star admiral Lisa Franchetti as Chief of Naval Operations. This comes after 4-star admiral Linda Fagan was fired as Commandant of the Coast Guard, & 4-star general CQ Brown, who is a black male, Chairman of the Joints Chiefs of Staff.
That is two women & one male who is black. If they were hired because of DEI with no other qualifications that is wrong. If they were fired because of their gender or color, that is wrong too.
See Two Wrongs Don't Make A Right. |

Margaret Knight invents a machine that produced paper bags. She had to go to court to patent her invention because a man working at the same factory in Massachusetts stole it for himself. She won in court & over the years had 87 total patents to her credit. The paper bags with flat bottoms are still used all over the world today. |

Re:ON THIS DATE Date Posted:2025-03-01 07:24:59Copy HTML 1700's Scottish immigrants brought the dish of fried chicken to America. Musta been typically bland, because African slaves spiced it up to the delicious southern recipe tradition we have today. The only reason spices came in use was to hide the smell and taste of meat that was off or going off. |
