Re:ON THIS DATE Date Posted:2025-01-31 08:41:54Copy HTML January 27, 1944
Soviet forces liberate Nazi concentration camp at Auschwitz, Poland. Today, January 27, 2024, is Holocaust Remembrance Day. I took the time while in Europe to visit 3 of the camps. Bergen-Belsen, Dachau and the one in France not far across the border from where I lived was called Struthof. Dachau and Struthof were still intact but Belsen was only raised mounted as the British burned it to the ground to try and stop the spread of disease at wars end. If you go on google and search there are still modern picture of both Dachau and Struthof France with every thing from dissecting tables to gas chambers to gallows with hangman noose and all original. All the same things I seen while there in the early 70's. After the camps were liberated, many of the homosexual survivors were not set free, but sent to prison. This due to laws against homosexuality at the time. I have never read that before & this was from another site. Dunno about the accuracy.

Walter Arnold drove his automobile 8 mph in Paddock Wood Kent. The constable chased him for 5 miles on his bicycle and issued the very first speeding ticket. The speed limit was 2 mph. Now their main highways are like the 401 but they still drive on the wrong side of the road. Thought at one time they could change to the same as the rest of Europe but I think that saying holds, you can't teach an old dog new tricks. Look how much would be saved if all cars were built the same and North America would buy a lot more of their cars. Even with that though, Shula would still drive in the centre of the road like she does now, poor dear |

That is the origin of the Limeys driving on the wrong side of the road???? That's why only a few of their cars still have rear drive and the ones that do have to drive backward. |

A captain & crew of an RN ship were invited to visit the Queen. The captain decided to order special matching jackets without tails for the occasion. They arrived for the meeting in blue jackets with brass buttons sans tails which was very unusual for the times. This jacket style became very popular & it was named after the ship...............HMS "Blazer." |

This would have been just before the Locomotives Act 1865 was repealed. The Act set a speed limit of 2 mph in built up areas but was replaced by the Locomotives on Highways Act 1896 which took effect on 14 November that year. |

If it makes you fell any better girl, back in the 50's when ever we seen a woman driver we would all shout, (Woman Driver, Pull Your Hair) because it was so rare to see a woman driving in those days. Now today if we still practised it, we would all be bald in less than a week. By the way, start stocking up on gas if you can. Fill every bottle and can that you can find and here's the reason way. Factbox-US imports of Canadian and Mexican crude oil by companyNEW YORK (Reuters) - Many U.S. oil refiners rely heavily on imported crude because their facilities are configured to run heavier grades, such as those coming in from Mexico and Canada. Refiners are awaiting clarity and preparing for U.S. President Donald Trump's threatened tariffs on crude imports from Canada and Mexico. Trump said on Friday that he would lower threatened tariffs on Canadian oil to 10% and that tariffs on oil and gas are likely to take effect on Feb. 18. A tariff on oil imports could drive up the cost of crude, pushing refiners to cut the amount of oil their facilities process. Refineries in the Midwest process about 70% of the 4 million barrels per day (bpd) of crude imported from Canada. Phillips 66 said there could be production cuts in the U.S. Midwest and Rocky Mountain region where alternative crude supplies are limited if tariffs take effect. The refiner expects the 457,000 bpd of Mexican crude that comes into the U.S. could be displaced and move to Europe or Asia. "We would expect to see the heavy crudes firm a bit just on the inefficiency of logistics," said Brian Mandell, executive vice president of marketing and commercial at Phillips 66. "As the year goes on and OPEC puts more barrels back onto the market, we would expect those differentials to widen back out." Phillips 66, along with HF Sinclair and Par Pacific Holdings, has elevated exposure to Canadian crude, data from TD Cowen shows. "Our commercial and optimization teams have been working hard to develop every possible scenario we can think of and how we would respond," said Gary Simmons, chief operating officer of Valero Energy, during a call with analysts on Thursday. "You might see at a 10% change in throughput. A lot depends on how far it goes and how deep you have to back off on some of those heavy barrels." Valero is the second-largest U.S. refiner by capacity. HF Sinclair, Par Pacific and Marathon did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Below is the latest available data on the volume of crude oil top U.S. independent refiners imported from Canada and Mexico in November 2024. Refiner Canada thousands of barrels. Mexico thousands of barrels HF 5,060 Sinclair Phillips 14,481497 66 Par 1,356 Pacific Marathon 15,535 1,488 Valero 1,147 6,599 Source: Data from U.S. Energy Information Administration Note: Data released on Jan 31, 2025 (Reporting by Nicole Jao in New York; Editing by Matthew Lewis) So what's the bottom you are probably thinking, eh! It means there will be mass shortages in America of fuel to drive your cars trucks and fly your planes which will drive the prices up not just in the States but world wide. Of course it means we will be ok because we will be able to sell our oil products at world prices and not the cut rate deal we are selling it to the States now for. Just by all your trucks that deliver your food paying more for fuel it will raise your food prices. With the new border rules that Trump came up with it means Americans won't be even allowed to jump over the border to Canada or Mexico for cheap fuel and fill up when Trump tariffs start. This is what happens when clowns are allowed to run the circus. |

If Trump imposes tariffs on named countries they'll impose them on the USA in return, so that'll make British goods cheaper. Soon after the Castilian knight known as El Cid died, his life began to be glorified. But this hero of Spain's Reconquista was no saint, but rather a sword for hire who fought mostly for his own enrichment. Just another example of how political & religious institutions distort history for their own ends. |
