Date Posted:2022-09-08 01:39:21Copy HTML Could be overreaction of course but it's reported that members of the Royal Family are gathering at Balmoral where the Queen is said to be "under medical supervision". You're playing chess with Fate and Fate's winning.

Re:HM The Queen Date Posted:2022-10-12 06:44:46Copy HTML He disliked too much pomp and ceremony and at 65 he wanted a quieter coronation. He was also aware of the huge expense and controversy of his deceased brother's coronation in 1821. Narrrr, he's just giving way to his pseudo socialist bent. He wants the big deal but has to play the usual lefty lie of caring about the expense. |

Re:HM The Queen Date Posted:2022-10-13 08:43:09Copy HTML India is protesting about the Koh-i-Noor diamond in the crown with which Queen Camilla will be crowned next year. They say it'll bring back painful memories of colonialism. My answer to that is SOD OFF! There are very few in India who'll remember colonial days and the rest won't care anyway, unless the government whips them up into a righteous frenzy. One solution the government is thinking of is to remove the diamond, another is to use a different crown. There are no set rules about the type of crown for the coronation of a Queen Consort. You're playing chess with Fate and Fate's winning.

Re:HM The Queen Date Posted:2022-10-14 08:10:08Copy HTML The government is presently in quiet negotiations with the Greek government over the return of the Elgin Marbles. I think this will go ahead and they will be returned, opening the floodgates for a hundred further claims. |

Re:HM The Queen Date Posted:2022-10-14 08:27:27Copy HTML There will come a point in which museums will only display items from the local area, everything else will be repatriated. Loan arrangements will have to be negotiated to display anything else. You're playing chess with Fate and Fate's winning.

Re:HM The Queen Date Posted:2022-10-15 06:32:34Copy HTML Reported here in the colonies that King Charles & Queen Consort Harlotta cannot move into their digs at Buckingham Palace until after a 369 million pound renovation is complete. This is expected to take at least 5 years, so any rumor of him abdicating for William is unlikely before that. I am sure the good king will want to enjoy the splendor of a renovated palace before he unselfishly gives it up in favor of his first born whelp. |

Re:HM The Queen Date Posted:2022-10-15 07:37:32Copy HTML Buckingham Palace is still a fine building, renovations will take place over time so as not to impede the work of the Crown. It is not the prime residence of the Monarch, they refer to it as "the office", Windsor Castle is the favoured residence. You're playing chess with Fate and Fate's winning.

Re:HM The Queen Date Posted:2022-10-15 08:21:58Copy HTML Mark, if so why spend 369 million pounds to renovate an "office?" I assume it's on the taxpayer's nickel? |

Re:HM The Queen Date Posted:2022-10-16 07:29:06Copy HTML Yes, Buckingham Palace is owned by the Crown it's not a private residence, so the taxpayer foots the bill. I expect a similar arrangement covers renovations at the White House? You're playing chess with Fate and Fate's winning.

Re:HM The Queen Date Posted:2022-10-16 09:32:32Copy HTML Where do you think the world's leaders want to go to when they arrive here? Buckingham Palace. They want to be seen there and it's a fascinating historical place to visit, packed with historical treasures. The largest collection of Leonardo drawings are in there, along with some of the world's greatest paintings. It's the world's finest hotel, restaurant, museum, jewellers and art gallery all in one. The Queen did not like the place at all and simply called it 'the office.' When we want to soften up the opposition or create the grounds for trade negotiations, we send the right people to Buckingham Palace before we fleece them. If you were to ever visit there it is always packed with thousands of tourists, it's a magnet for them and their money. I'll tell you a little story about an experience my wife, daughter and a few of the family had there a few years ago. As you know my daughter served over 6 years in the army and they were outside of the palace when an officer crossed in front of them in the grounds. My girl said, I know him, so her cousin said..... call him. She refused so she asked what his name was and when she told her, she called him and he turned around to see her pointing at my girl. He did no more than go to a gate and come outside to greet her. They served together in Iraq you see. The crowd outside were enthralled by this and when he went back in they flocked around my girl taking photos of her. |

I expect a similar arrangement covers renovations at the White House? The White House is owned by the state, so in that instance it would be similar with the taxpayer footing the bill for renovations & upkeep. But The White House is like garage compared to Buckingham Palace. |
