There is a lot to say about Mary, Queen of Scots, so I'll only give the briefest details which will probably raise more questions than answers.

Born in December 1542 she became Queen aged just six days after the death of her father King James V. She reigned under the Regency of the Earl of Arran who in 1543 signed an agreement with Henry VIII of England in which Mary was betrothed to Henry's heir Prince Edward. However the Scottish Parliament repudiated the treaty as it would leave Scotland under English control. In his rage Henry invaded Scotland and quickly occupied much of the country as far north as Edinburgh. 

With Mary in danger of capture she was taken away to France aged five in 1548 where she remained for 13 years. In 1558 she married the heir to the Throne the Dauphin Prince François who became King a year later. However he died in 1560 leaving Mary a widow just days short of her 18th birthday.

With no role in France she returned to Scotland in 1561 to find a country quite different from that she had left 13 years earlier - the Scottish Reformation had turned her once Catholic country Protestant. At first she steered a careful course of religious toleration and all appeared to be going well. But the question of the succession and therefore her marriage had to be settled and it was here that her problems began.

It wasn't so long ago if you were born out of wedlock you had Bastard stamped on you birth certificate. Now a days, that would be considered cruel and unusual punishment. So the world has changed in many ways in our life time and will continue changing. We can except change or the world will leave us behind.

I don't think I can, only Art has the power to do that. All I can do is go in and delete any double posts etc.

My grand daughter has been taught sex education since the age of 5. She is now 13. My grandson in Alberta also started learning sex education at 5 and he's now 11. At no time did they ever come home and put pictures of Penis's or more than 4 legged pussy's on the kitchen fridge. What they did learn though was what I said before about child abuse and what to look for. In my time it was called street proofing or being street wise. That way no one could take advantage or con you into letting them do anything to you that wasn't appropriate.

It's the first think a kid learns if he lives in a big city. Didn't they teach you health education in Britain and have charts with cut aways with the man and female body parts. Even the reproduction system was taught in junior high.

Any heads up a child can receive ahead of a problem happening, is a bonus for that child.

As for kids being gay. That will come out when their hormones start working and go into overdrive. It's something you can't stop ahead of time.

Look Gramps, you really don't know what the grandkids learned or think...........so don't pretend that you do. 

suppose not all children have the benefit of having parents who teach them about the dangers of strangers at an early age.  I was fortunate.  At the age of 5 my main concern was colo(u)ring within the lines, not what sex I wanted to be.

If you read my post Miss priss I said that's what the school teaches them to watch out for incase the parents don't. It doesn't mean parents stopped tell them also.

They don't ask the children in school do you what to be a girl or a boy when you grow up. It would be like asking them what job are you going to be looking for when you grow up to a 5 yr old. Most won't have a clue what they want to do unless the parents have said to them, you are going to be a lawyer or a doctor and that's the answer they will give you not knowing what both jobs are about. Most 5 yrs olds girls want to grow up to be a Fairy Princess, am I wrong?
