Re:Don't start another Date Posted:2022-06-12 12:43:36Copy HTML You've got more space than us, we have to have narrow roads to fit them all in. Where I live we have vast herds of deer that weigh a minimum of 100 lbs. each. After each years fawns are born the doe boots out the last year crop of yearlings. These animals are not "road smart" & there are hundreds of collisions with vehicles causing millions of $ in damages. Of course the local collision shops love this increase in business calling them "deer hits." Meanwhile insurance rates escalate for collision insurance & in the end the motorists pay for the damage & inconvenience. Hence the cut back of the foliage along the roadsides to minimize this. Do you have large critters like deer in any number in the UK? This morning while having coffee on the deck of my estate I witnessed a doe nursing her fawn on my front lawn. After being fed the fawn was frolicking around like a spoiled little brat when Mum grunted in displeasure in an attempt to correct such behavior. |

Re:Don't start another Date Posted:2022-06-12 12:47:34Copy HTML Amazingly there are more deer in GB now than at any time in recorded history around 1.5 million. In some places they're being culled as they ruin the vegetation and, as you say, cause road accidents. Red deer are our biggest, but the ones you'll normally see are roe deer or fallow deer. You're playing chess with Fate and Fate's winning.

Re:Don't start another Date Posted:2022-06-12 06:36:45Copy HTML There has been a general increase in wild animal populations over the last two years. It is said this is due to COVID and the reduction of traffic as well as less building because of the restrictions. In my area there have been more bear sightings than usual and we're even seeing bunny rabbits and chipmunks.

Re:Don't start another Date Posted:2022-06-12 08:16:42Copy HTML Amazingly there are more deer in GB now than at any time in recorded history around 1.5 million. In some places they're being culled as they ruin the vegetation and, as you say, cause road accidents. Red deer are our biggest, but the ones you'll normally see are roe deer or fallow deer. There is a very common deer species here, invader actually, called the Muntjac, which was introduced from China in the early 1900's and has now spread from the south, right upto the Lakes. There are quite a few where I live but I've never actually seem one yet. Last year I looked through my front window and there was a full sized deer grazing in the field opposite my house, not 40 yards away. Quite a welcome surprise I can tell you, but I've never seen one since. Many years ago we hit one in the car at the Lake District and it was then we discovered the law in Britain that states that whoever hits and kills a deer on the road is not allowed to have it, but the car behind, or any other car beyond that can. Obviously it's to prevent hunters using cars to kill them. |

Re:Don't start another Date Posted:2022-06-13 09:39:12Copy HTML In this country we have what must be the most hypocritically titled official in governmental history, it's a anti Islamophobia advisor and he works for the government's Department of Levelling Up. (I kid you not) Yep, the most selfish, intolerant, oppressive, violent, bigoted, narrow minded, uncharitable cult on the planet needs governmental financed protection. Anyway, he's just been sacked for being intolerant to the views of others, who'd have thought? It comes after he endorsed a campaign for cinemas to pull screenings of The Lady of Heaven, a film about the daughter of the prophet Muhammad, causing, in his words, much pain and anguish in the muslim community, the poor lambs. If only the honour murdering of their own children, or the mutilation of thousands of their female offspring could do the same? The cinema showing the film found itself surrounded by hundreds of chanting muslims and guess what? Not a single copper in sight. The company has caved in now agreed not to show the film at any of its other cinemas to protect its staff. Now there's a company who knows that offended muslims means murder, pity the Department of Levelling Up doesn't. What we have here is the reintroduction, via the mosque, of new, unofficial blasphemy laws. |

Re:Don't start another Date Posted:2022-06-13 02:13:34Copy HTML Breaking News
Johnny Rotten of the Sex Pistols said he was "really, really proud of doing so well" as Queen Elizabeth celebrated 70 years on the British throne. Now flash back to 1977 when the Sex Pistols had a hit song, "God Save the Queen," Rotten sang that the queen headed a "fascist regime" & ain't no human being." Hmm, change of heart?
Blake Masters, a candidate for U.S. Senate from Arizona recently said that the gun violence problem in America can mostly be blamed on "Black people." He is a Republican.
John Thune, Senator from South Dakota recently said that military style rifles are used in his state to shoot prairie dogs & other varmints. He is a Republican.
French President Emmanuel Macron warned against humiliating Russia/Putin by backing them in their war on Ukraine. He suggested to reward Putin by conceding a nice chunk of Ukraine's territories in exchange for peace. Hmm sounds like the Vichy government all over again. |

Narrr, just a brainless hypocrite. I remember him and that other ponce, Johnny Rotten at the time, paraded as some kind of tough nuts to be steered clear of and thought to myself at the time, my mother could take the pair of'em. |

Re:Don't start another Date Posted:2022-06-17 05:44:40Copy HTML There's a distinct sense of drift over here, of a government unable to get a grip. The Rwanda flight fiasco is a good example. It was a badly thought out plan with little hope of achieving anything meaningful. We'll end up spending millions before the whole thing is dropped. Another government pronouncement that stinks of planning on the hoof is their latest food strategy. Because of the world situation Boris has decreed that we ought to grow more of our own food; a great idea obviously, it used to be that way years ago. BUT it comes hard on the heels of his plans to build more wind farms and solar farms and of course more houses, all of which will be constructed on potential farmland! You're playing chess with Fate and Fate's winning.

Re:Don't start another Date Posted:2022-06-25 12:06:33Copy HTML There has been a general increase in wild animal populations over the last two years. It is said this is due to COVID and the reduction of traffic as well as less building because of the restrictions. In my area there have been more bear sightings than usual and we're even seeing bunny rabbits and chipmunks. Yes the Covid didn't just lead to higher prices and food shortages it helped repopulate the animal population in most areas. I have had small rabbits in my backyards for years now after some local let their kids easter present go outside. Now I have a very small baby one of their off springs hanging out in the back. It enjoyed the dandylions stems at first but with them they were gone prefers the the mixed bird seed that falls from the feeders. It won't eat raw lettuce, carots or califlower like I though it would. The bush up north is full of American bear hunters right now. They are seeing licence plates on half ton trucks from as far south as Texas, Alabama and Arizona. Bear meat tastes terrible at this time of year because the bears are just coming out of hibernian and still trying to honk up their stomach contents which is full of maggots. To come from Arizona to Chapleau Ontario by car is a 37hr drive and 3,548 kms one way. Must really like bear meat or a good trip with the boys away from their wives. |

Re:Don't start another Date Posted:2022-07-10 07:20:47Copy HTML Today we visited the Southport airshow, which was brilliant. First up was the Battle of Britain flight, consisting of a Spit, a Hurricane and the venerable Lancaster. They all did an individual show too and the Lanc was a very special old girl. There are only two still airborne, one here and one in Hamilton Ontario. The Spit then did a duo performance with a Typhoon, which was great and after it left the Typhoon just lit up the show with an amazing performance which left you open mouthed. What a noise! Guess what, a MIG 15 came from Finland and put on an act and I was amazed how quiet it was. Then there was a P51 Mustang, another Spit with a Griffon engine, a Pitt Special, an acrobatic team from South Korea and finally the Red Arrows. Great day out and only a tenner. |

Too high to make out what they were but they definitely looked WW II vintage, possibly Dakotas? You're playing chess with Fate and Fate's winning.

Re:Don't start another Date Posted:2022-07-11 10:44:39Copy HTML The hidden statistics of the deaths and disablements caused by the covid vaccinations are slowly beginning too emerge and they are frightening. Of course, to your covid junkies, they are a price worth paying, as long as they're not the ones grieving, who cares? It's all for there greater good then. |

Too high to make out what they were but they definitely looked WW II vintage, possibly Dakotas? There were no Dakotas at the show Mark. I don't think the organisers did a few of the pilots any favours by putting on small aircraft following the Typhoon. One pilot put on a great show of skill but it was in a small craft which was very quiet and following the spectacle and deafening roar of the Typhoon was totally overshadowed. A mention about the P51. When it climbs it gives out a siren, hooting noise, which the commentator explained came from the gunports, a bit like blowing over the top of a bottle. Really makes it sound special. |

Re:Don't start another Date Posted:2022-07-12 06:08:08Copy HTML "When the authorities are stupid, they will tend to side with the stupid children and acquiesce, at least tacitly, in rough treatment for those who show intelligence. In that case, a society will be produced in which all the important positions will be won by those whose stupidity enables them to please the herd." Bertrand Russell I tend to agree with this statement. "It is forbidden to spit on cats in plague-time."

Re:Don't start another Date Posted:2022-07-14 07:54:58Copy HTML It's not all one way traffic from Mexico into the US across the border you know, thousands are going the other way and the numbers are increasing by the day, encouraged by the Mexican government no less. No, not illegal immigrants, Americans filling their cars up in Mexico because it's substantially cheaper there. |

Re:Don't start another Date Posted:2022-07-15 11:52:02Copy HTML Soaring crime wave sparks rush to build "Panic Rooms" here in the wild west. A man's home is supposed to be his castle, a safe haven from the ills of the world. But a spike in home invasions across America, Russia's threat to start a nuclear war, & fear of Covid are fueling this latest fad. A room in your home that is bulletproof, explosion-resistant, & virtually impenetrable are the selling points in today's violent world. The rich & famous & those whose careers that come with elevated risks are the big buyers, but for security's sake, those who invest in panic rooms rarely talk about them or even admit to having them. One such "high-profile" individual is rumored to have a "panic chute" in the conference room of his office which can jettison him from the building in a moment's notice. |
