Date Posted:2022-12-29 05:10:13Copy HTML Don't know if you Island People get much of the American Weather reports over there but Beefalo NY took a terrible beating with a bomb snow storm. Numerous deaths because emergency crews couldn't get to strained people in their cars or homes. They are finding bodies in snow banks of people who were out walking in it. All roads had to be closed to local traffic for days until they could get them ploughed enough for emergency vehicles to get out. Even the large snow plough trucks were having to get rescued. People were running out of medicine in their homes and with the hydro out, wouldn't be able to run their gas or oil furnaces or even any electrical heating. Some people who had portable generators killed themselves for not venting them good enough and died of Carbon monoxide poisoning. Their water pipes were freezing up and most people wouldn't know that in cold weather to stop that from happening you have to keep a tap open and water flowing through the system. Tommy will correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure they got up to 4 Ft. of snow mixed with very strong winds. Question for Tommy. Did you get a chance to use your Generec power system to keep you going?

Re:BAD WEATHER. Date Posted:2025-01-29 01:22:43Copy HTML We have garbage pick up and have 3 large bins. A black one for garbage, a blue one for recycled and a green one for organic. One week it's garbage and organic and and the next week it's recycled and organic. If you need to put out more garbage that the bin holds you but the black bags beside it but have to purchase a strip of garbage tags and put one day on each extra bag. With the recycling blue bags you can put out as many as you want. We also have leaf pick up 4 times a year and put the in large paper organic bags. Sticks and branches can also be put out at the curb but must be bundled and tied with twine. It we have old couches etc. to put out we can put out 4 large items for ten bucks and they will pick it up. Things like old stoves, washers, dryers and fridges if left by the crib are picked up for free by local scrapers. Have no complains about the town because after a snow fall they are quick to have the roads and sidewalks cleared usually before morning traffic. For my 6 car driveway I have a contractor do it and he also does my front and back law cutting. My military gives me extra money to pay for it but even if they didn't the contractors is very reasonable. I have a 10 horse, 5 forward speeds and a reverse snow blower in one of my garages. Anyone want to buy it |

Re:BAD WEATHER. Date Posted:2025-02-15 01:26:45Copy HTML We might see a little more snow today and tomorrow, but I think it's mostly going to be rain. I made another miniature snowman on the deck during the last storm, played snowball fetch with the dog next door and harvested two huge Tupperware containers of snow for the freezer. Casey would have been amused. The seedlings in my little indoor green house love the snow water and they are bursting with life. I also discovered daffodils coming up in the front yard. Spring has arrived in Virginia and that means I've survived the third season. If you need snow water why didn't you just say so and I would send you a whole semi trailer full down before the tariffs go on. You can use distilled water when that is all gone and get the same affects. A two gallon bottle is only 99 cents at Walmart by the way. So were you able to get to see Empire of the Sun?? Re:BAD WEATHER. Date Posted:2025-02-16 12:53:42Copy HTML I discovered, much to my dismay, that 1 cup of packed snow yields 1/4 cup of water. So you would charge me for a full truckload of snow and I would receive 1/4 truckload. Capitalistic brat. You deserve all the tariffs you get. I was going to sent it down to you for free so you would save on snow for making your snow cones with. All just because I'm a nice guy and your a friend of Zorro. What about that movie? Can you get it or not. "It is forbidden to spit on cats in plague-time."

Re:BAD WEATHER. Date Posted:2025-02-17 12:35:20Copy HTML We're due for another snowstorm on Wednesday. PBA, if you're talking about Empire of the Sun, no, I haven't watched it, although I can probably get it on YouTube. I have not checked because it is a Japanese film and that means there's going to be torture or something very bad happening. Am I right? No your not right and have I ever suggested a film you didn't end up liking? It's not a Japanese film Shula. It's a American made film and no one gets tortured or nothing very bad happens. What it does show is the total collapse and the end of the Japanese Empire in ww11. So watch it if you can get it. "It is forbidden to spit on cats in plague-time."

Re:BAD WEATHER. Date Posted:2025-02-17 06:09:07Copy HTML Looks like what I see when looking out my window right now. To Shula, what do you think of just one of the Canadians new stations. Canadians always complain that when they are in the States they don't hear any Canadian news and it's like to them that Canada doesn't even exist. Do you think Canadian news is fair and honest and covers not only our countries but yours and the worlds new? Again this question is for Shula. |

It saves having to read the same post and see the same videos over and over and it also saves space on the board. Tommy could have done the same with his next post by just choosing edit instead on leaving it on action. |

Re:BAD WEATHER. Date Posted:2025-02-18 02:08:22Copy HTML I'll answer two of your questions, PBA. First, I did find Empire of the Sun on YouTube, but I'd have to pay for it and I'm not that kind of girl. I did also find, however, a rather lengthy critique of the movie with lots of scenes. I love the way it's filmed, and knowing basically how it ends, I would definitely watch it. I'll have to wait for it to play on the movie channel. Second: I don't have a Canadian news channel here, so all I know of your news is what you post here and some clips I find on YouTube. Trump has certainly brought you guys into the spotlight, though. From what I've seen, your news people are just about as fair and balanced as ours are. Some are horrified that Trump could actually make Canada a state (which he cannot) and others are amused that Trudeau is concerned that he could. If Poilivre gets elected, I expect to hear that he plans to annex the United States. Basically, it's going to be contestants on the "Celebrity Presidents" show for the next four years. I have come into possession of a bunch of Canadian coins. The big snow storm for this week has been called off. Would 6.20 Canadian buy me that truckload of snow water? No but will buy you a couple of Tim Horton coffees any size and two extra fresh donuts of your choice this month. To see it right now again I have the choice of buying or renting it but like you I imagine they just add the cost to your monthly cable bill. I have rented different movies before if the ads look good and with so many movie channel available right now I know if enough people keep searching for it, the cable companies can tell and hopefully will air it again soon for free. Wow your trying to pull my leg right with this- From what I've seen, your news people are just about as fair and balanced as ours are. I know you watch Fox News and you can't compare any News to Fox who had to pay out over 650 million dollars for lying to the American public. Fox News Paid $787M to Avoid Saying ‘Sorry’ for Lying About the 2020 ElectionFox News’ staggering $787.5 million settlement with Dominion Voting Systems left out one major concession: The network doesn’t actually have to apologize for repeatedly airing the lies that played a key role in convincing a large swath of Americans the 2020 election was rigged, which did irreparable damage to voters’ trust in the democratic system. Fox’s case was always with Dominion—not with truth, justice, and the American way. And while Dominion’s pushback against Fox’s lies were a core part of its case, its goal was always to make good for itself, not to humble the network by forcing Fox’s talking heads to prostrate themselves on-air and admit they intentionally lied. The case’s pre-trial findings were deeply embarrassing for Fox—but those who naively hoped that this case would lead to a true reckoning where Fox would be forced to admit its lies to its own viewers and actually change its behavior going forward were always going to be disappointed. And Dominion did pretty well for itself: $787.5 million is reportedly one of the largest defamation settlements in U.S. history, and it’s about eight times Dominion’s total annual revenue in 2021. But this settlement could have gone further. Fox could have been forced to actually apologize. The settlement could have required Fox’s hosts to read on-air corrections and admit to their falsehoods, a public shaming that could have actually been viewed by some of Fox’s own audience. This won’t happen: The settlement did not include any requirement that Fox News acknowledge on air that it knowingly aired lies. This follows a pattern for Fox: They’d rather pay to make their lies go away than be forced to admit them. Dominion Voting Systems Corporation was founded in 2002 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, by John Poulos and James Hoover,[27] and was incorporated on January 14, 2003.[28] The company develops proprietary software in-house and sells electronic voting hardware and software, including voting machines and tabulators, in the U.S. and Canada and employs a development team in its Serbian office.[5] The company maintains headquarters in Toronto and in Denver, Colorado.[4] Its name derives from the Dominion Elections Act.[29][30] The Dominion Elections Act[1] (French: Acte des élections fédérales)[13] was a bill passed by the House of Commons of Canada in 1920, under Robert Borden's Unionist government. The Act allowed white women to run for the Parliament of Canada. However, women from most/all minorities, for example, Aboriginals and Asians, were not granted these rights.[14] This bill was passed due in part to the advocacy of Nellie McClung, a women's rights activist from Manitoba. The law established the agency now known as Elections Canada with the position of Chief Electoral Officer as head of the agency.[15] Background[edit]Main article: Conscription Crisis of 1917 During World War I, the country was split on the issue of conscription. Ahead of the 1917 election, the Liberal Party experienced splits among individual MPs. Protests erupted over the government's plan to introduce conscription in what became known as the Conscription Crisis of 1917. Pro-conscription Liberals joined forces with the Conservative Party to form the Unionist Party in 1917, led by Prime Minister Robert Borden. In an effort to increase votes for the new Unionist Party, Borden granted the vote to female relatives of active-duty soldiers. The 1917 election had the highest female voter turnout out of any other election, and the Unionist Party won a safe majority, with only Quebec voting majority Liberal. Re:BAD WEATHER. Date Posted:2025-02-19 12:22:38Copy HTML I read a story yesterday that reported Starmer has pledged British boots on the ground in Ukraine if necessary. That took me by surprise. Why would it surprise you this is Britain we are talking about not a lame Di** who doesn't have any balls to stand up to a tyrant. “But it also means being ready and willing to contribute to security guarantees to Ukraine by putting our own troops on the ground if necessary. I do not say that lightly. I feel very deeply the responsibility that comes with potentially putting British servicemen and women in harm’s way.” Days after US vice-president JD Vance attacked Europe for withdrawing from its core values, Starmer added: “This is the moment for us all to step up and the UK will do so because it is the right thing to do for the values and freedoms we hold dear, and because it is fundamental to our own national security.” The prime minister also said securing any role in helping to guarantee Ukraine’s security will help the security of both Europe and the UK. “The end of this war, when it comes, cannot merely become a temporary pause before Putin attacks again,” Starmer said. Starmer has already had two volunteers step forward for King and Country. Some guy called Arthur and the other called Markus. Oh to be 17 and be able do a bit of travelling again. Re:BAD WEATHER. Date Posted:2025-02-20 02:44:41Copy HTML Yes, for once he's prepared to do the right thing. Only as a protection force of course to deter further Russian attacks if a peace settlement is reached. Like a UN special force which Canada did for years at different hot spots around the world. It is suppose to be mainly monitoring but some time one side will lobe one or two shells at the force and then use the excuse it was done by accident. You have to be informed where both sides have placed their mines and if that isn't done then you get a rep from that side who will have to lead the way. It would involve a lot of logistics plaining in advance before deploying. I see Delta is offering 30k to each passenger on that crash at Pearson. Both the injured and the rest of the passengers will be offered the same. I suspect the injured ones weren't wearing a seat belt or at least wearing it too loose. |
