Date Posted:2022-12-29 05:10:13Copy HTML Don't know if you Island People get much of the American Weather reports over there but Beefalo NY took a terrible beating with a bomb snow storm. Numerous deaths because emergency crews couldn't get to strained people in their cars or homes. They are finding bodies in snow banks of people who were out walking in it. All roads had to be closed to local traffic for days until they could get them ploughed enough for emergency vehicles to get out. Even the large snow plough trucks were having to get rescued. People were running out of medicine in their homes and with the hydro out, wouldn't be able to run their gas or oil furnaces or even any electrical heating. Some people who had portable generators killed themselves for not venting them good enough and died of Carbon monoxide poisoning. Their water pipes were freezing up and most people wouldn't know that in cold weather to stop that from happening you have to keep a tap open and water flowing through the system. Tommy will correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure they got up to 4 Ft. of snow mixed with very strong winds. Question for Tommy. Did you get a chance to use your Generec power system to keep you going?

Re:BAD WEATHER. Date Posted:2023-07-01 04:54:48Copy HTML When I first moved here, one of the first things I heard about was a tire fire in the town next over. It had been burning for a long, long time and continued for a lot longer. I didn't know it was nearly impossible to put out a tyre fire. We had a bad one in Hagersville Ontario. The Hagersville Tire Fire, sparked on 12 February 1990, was a major tire fire that began at a tire recycling facility near Hagersville, Ontario. The fire started at the Tyre King Tire Recycling facility, a facility already under scrutiny by the Province of Ontario as an environmental hazard at the time. Firefighters from twenty-four different fire departments spent seventeen days fighting the fire, which eventually consumed fourteen million tires and burned the equivalent of eighteen football fields. A major media event at the time, the fire was covered by a wide variety of Canadian and American media operations. The blaze cost $15–25 million dollars for the province to put out, displaced up to 4,000 residents, and produced a significant amount of toxic smoke and ash.[1] Investigators later determined that the fire was likely caused by five arsonists, one of whom pleaded guilty and testified against the other four, who were charged with mischief and sentenced to prison times between one month and four months. The fire was officially put out on 1 March 1990. Residents, firefighters, and the broader environment all sustained potentially significant health effects and damages as a result of residue and the inhalation of ash. Notable consequences of the fire include emotional and medical damages to residents, economic damage in the form of lost revenues for food vendors, and the proliferation of oily runoff as a result of firefighting efforts. Reporting surrounding the event provided a catalyst for the Province of Ontario and other Canadian jurisdictions to update their regulations for tire management and storage.[2]

Re:BAD WEATHER. Date Posted:2023-07-02 05:49:42Copy HTML If it was pot fields instead of forests we wouldn't mind so much. Nobody grows it out doors anymore Tommy unless they are just growing hemp to make rope with. Everything in under lights now in either large greenhouses or old converted factories. See, while yours old factories sit dormant ours are still employing hundreds of happy workers. These places are all listed on the stock market and most but not all have CEO's that are ex-police chiefs. I have heard that the starting wage was $19.00 dollars an hour for the lowest position of trimmer. Their job is to trim the small leaf away from the bud. I imagine the wages have gone up to start now because that was the wage 4 years ago to start. |

Seems like far too light a jail sentence for what it cost to the Province and to the locales. It should have been 4 years and not 4 months. |

Re:BAD WEATHER. Date Posted:2023-07-02 06:34:08Copy HTML As of today, 510 active fires still burning with 256 still out of control. So far this year there have been 3097 forest fires in Canada which have burned 8.2 million hectares or about 31,600 Square miles so far. Yesterday being Canada's 156th birthday many places had to forgo their fireworks displays and even other things like camp fires and controlled burnings. Here in Bradford my granddaughter and myself parked in the Legion parking lot which is only for Legion members and watched over an hour of fireworks in the open park across the street. Best fireworks display that I have seen in years. All the streets around leading to the park where jammed with parked cars to the point they had to have police directing traffic for the cars getting there and leaving after. The reason why the display was so big was every major store from Tim Hortons to Canadian Tire in town pooled their money and then the Federal Government also added at least another million or so bucks to that. We have 4 Tim's in town now, all owned by the same guy. One is a walk-in and 3 have drive throughs plus tables to sit. A lot of cheapies go to Tim's just for the free Wifi. The new arrives seem to prefer Walmarts or McDonalds but there isn't a place in the whole area that you can't get free Wifi. We also have a Star Bucks but with the coffee tasting like muck and their prices out of this world you never see a line up at it. |

Re:BAD WEATHER. Date Posted:2023-07-02 06:44:00Copy HTML Canadians are the only ones who export their smoke. Another hazy day today. That's not Canadian smoke girl, it's smog from your gas burning cars. Canadian smoke is sweet and smells like roses. Since the fires started I haven't heard the word Canada said so many times on American news in the last 50 years. They even have to put up a map to show most Americans where Canada even is. Now that sad. Should be ashamed of yourselves, you all. |

Re:BAD WEATHER. Date Posted:2023-07-03 02:09:40Copy HTML Now your comments make sense. Any country that puts the cops in charge of the pot is deranged. When the revolution comes, you'll be writing to us from the woke re-education camp. Deranged?? Are you talking about us or Art, young lady. These are the same coppers that were against it before it became legal but how things change and they were the first to get involved in the business using the excuse that they were trained in organization skills and that's what got them hired. When it was still illegal they said don't legalize it because they would be faced with too many impaired driving charges for the courts to handle. To their surprise it never happened and not saying they don't still charge people for impaired driving but it's because they have been drinking and not smoking weed. The courts here have seen a major drop in cases since it became legal. Before it took up a lot of the courts time and the Governments money and they are now saying that they should have done it sooner. The Government also receives a tax on everything sold so it's a bonus for them also. So if you want to get America out out debt then this is the way to go. Holland learned this years ago in the 1960's. You can't smoke weed in a bar but then you also can't smoke cigarettes in one either now. The real meaning of the word WOKE. [wōk] VERB
ADJECTIVE DEROGATORY
So really that doesn't sound like a bad thing to be to me. Aren't you concerned a wee bit about social injustice and discrimination in America??. |
