The longer this goes on, the more I see Ukraine as being just another cold war ball for each side to kick around. The initial attack on the Russian economy by the west has just about run its course and now the Rouble has recovered, China, India and most of the rich middle eastern states still back Russia and Putin and he has never been so popular with his own people. I see talk of him being ousted as a matter of course but I'm beginning to doubt that very much, as he has an iron grip on all of the Russian institutions of state and security. Any war of attrition, which this is turning into, will always favour Russia, with its massive resources and with the west declining to go any further than it has, I can't see it going but one way. The west might close its Moscow McDonalds and a few other tokenisms but the fact is, Russia has Europe by the goolies, as we have been idiotic enough to become dependent of Russian energy, which will always be our Achilles heel. We are stuck on the Russian tit. Here in Europe a few years ago the ruling classes in Brussels issued a diktat stating that diesel engines were cleaner than petrol ones, a blatant pile of crap if ever there was one. Any person with an inkling of knowledge of engines knew this was a blatant lie and who benefitted most from it? The German car industry. Here in Britain, following our decades long policy of getting everything produced abroad, we gave up refining our own fuels on a huge scale and guess who refines all of our Diesel? Yep, Russia. There is now talk of Diesel rationing later in the year and if that happens where will our shops get their goods from? Russia holds all the cards, as far as I can see. Gas and electricity are now set to rise by up to 400% in Britain in the next two years and our political class have only added to the crisis by pampering to the ridiculous green lobby. Naturally they're having to quietly backtrack now as their own political futures are in jeopardy. Do you know that 25% of all we pay over here for energy is a green tax? If the war has any benefit for us, it will be the dawning of an energy reality in the corridors of power.

I sent this post before my pictures and it disappeared so will try posting it again.

If the Germans ever managed to get a sericeable T-34 on their retreat, they would use it and just change the markings. They ended up dumping this one in a swamp.

I can recognize the T-34 by the sloped frontal armor & the forward position of the turret.

Yes and also notice how wide each track is. My picture in Borden is of a later model (probably a T-34/85 so actually the turret is bigger to allow for a larger main gun. If you compare it with the one with the German marking, it has the original smaller turret.

List of countries that used or still have them below.

When the Russians came to make a tank they looked around and chose a British one as a basis for some reason. I can't remember which one but I saw it in a documentary. The suspension they took from an American tank.

Most of those backward countries (at the time) were copycats. When the Jap was building up his navy he copied the RN. The Russians were far behind the west in almost everything & it was easier to copy. In some cases they actually made improvements.

Canada reopens it's Embassy in Kyiv during a surprise visit by Trudeau today. He even went so far as to raise the Canadian flag.

I think the Americans will soon follow suit.

The  Valentine Tank was made in Canada and all 1420 of them made were shipped to Russia. It was said they loved them.

Sorry to disappoint you Pete but the Ukrainians have already been disappointed by Pelosi before Vanityboy arrived. Was he wearing a Ukrainian national dress and did he do a Ukrainian dance? Don't forget, Turdope Snr was a rampant commie and so is black-up boy, so he's not going to fool Zelensky, although Zelensky will patronise the devious crook to get what he wants. Tell me, does the person on your garden political sign support Turdope and does she know you worship him?

All the Canadian tanks were made at the beginning of the war and Mark with his new glasses has made all my pictures small but looking at the originals they are 6pders. I just took a picture of the 6per rd I have with is 6 inches high and 1 1/2 inches wide. When I manage to fit it in the post I will show it to you.

Don't believe what the news is saying Art if you don't want to, but the States is also looking at opening their Embassy. In his speak to the world media Zelensky praised both America and Canadian for the aid Ukraine is receiving from both. It's a sign of unity when Nato countries leader make an appearance. He never mentioned Britain. Trudeau senior lived in China because his father was a Canadian diplomat there so I imagine he meet a lot of Chinese dipolmats and dignitaries along with their families, so what is your point, all dipolmats do that. Best problems solving and trade deals are all sorted out at family Barbeques.

If you had bothered to read the sign on my lawn before New Glasses shrunk it , It says, Ontario PC which stands for Progressive Conservatives Ontario. Now think hard about it, why would the Ontario PC's support Trudeau. They are in power now in the Province and will be after this election. Trudeau has done no more for Ontario that he was forced to do for all the 9 other Provinces and 3 Territories. Just because your wing nut lost a wack of seats and let Ireland fall to the IRA, doesn't been our Conservatives have dropped the ball also.

The early German tanks yes at close range but as the Tanks up graded to heavier armour then so did the size of the ammunitions needed to take them out at greater ranges. It was all trial and error and a learning experience for both sides at the beginning.

I guess it all depends on if they win or lose Tommy.

A good incentive would to make sure they win, eh

Back to you asking could a 6pder take out a tank. The Brits were using a 6pder anti-tank gun and it could pierce a German tank.

Not to be a pain is the ass, but this "pounder" thingy is confusing to me. I know the M1 Abrams has a 105 mm main gun which looks much larger by comparison & back in the day the Germans had an 88 mm main gun. How does a 6 pounder compare with those?

Actually the 20pders is just short of the 88mm. It's 83.33mm. That's what gun the first Centurians had and them up graded to a 105mm gun.
