Re:TOURISM, Where would you like to visit Date Posted:2022-05-11 05:36:46Copy HTML I don't know what you have for cable TV down there Tommy but on ours they have a lot of movies on Henry the 8th, Elizabeth, Mary Queen of Scots and all all the old rulers of Britain and all very well done I might add. They show who was working for them and who was in the back wings plotting against them, who their part time lovers were and so on.. Now after me telling you all this your going to tell me you only have rabbit ears sitting on top of your 19 inch TV, right. On my flicker, remote control for the southerners, you just push a button and say Marry Queen of Scots and it will bring up and show you with a discription every movie or documentary they have on her. There's too much on TV about the Tudors, there are other periods of history just as interesting that are unjustly neglected. |

The horror you would witness would give you a heart attack. Ya probably, but it would be worth it. It can't be that bad when you see them doing it in the video. Have you and the Bear ever been up to Niagara Falls? Probably a 7 hour drive for you. Stay a couple of days in the area because theirs a lot do do beside the zip line. You can sample different wines from the fall all along to Niagara on the Lake. Let the Bear read the map though because it's Niagara Falls not Niagra Falls. After telling you all this, your going to tell me you don't have a passport to, right? |

Re:TOURISM, Where would you like to visit Date Posted:2022-05-14 04:19:24Copy HTML Negative. Niagara Falls holds no interest for me. I'm sure it's beautiful and all, but my fancy leads me to mountain tops which are all around me.

You don't have mountains in your area, only high hills girl. If you want mountains, then you have to go to the Rockies. |

Re:TOURISM, Where would you like to visit Date Posted:2022-05-17 05:44:27Copy HTML A great place for Shula and the Bear to visit. Not that far from where they live. Wouldn't even have to pay for motels if they stayed at the Fortress over night. Besides, Shula would be in her glory being able to fire guns. |

Re:TOURISM, Where would you like to visit Date Posted:2022-05-24 11:25:19Copy HTML I admit there is an allure aboot the Louisbourg Fortress, but I'd rather bring my own guns and ammo than use those candy-ass blanks you all shoot up there. Geez girl, what are you going to shot at, other tourists. People are very friendly in the East Coast of Canada and the worse they may do to you is invite you to their home for supper. They do have an accent when speaking but then so do you, so no problem. I took a lot of pictures and videos at the Fortress but the fog rolled in when we were there. All my videos that I have taken are too large to post and would have to somehow be downloaded to youtube site first to show them. You would probably also like visiting Lunenburg Nova Scotia and go whale watching which even closer to you, than Cape Breton Island. The nickname for people from Nova Scotia is Blue Nosers. Not that their noses are blue but the Sailing ship the Blue nose was built in Lunenburg. A lot of families there of old German desent. If your in Newfoundland they are called Squid Giggers, New Brunswickers are called Herring Chokers, and from Prince Edward Island are called Spud Islanders. Anne and I liked Lunenburg and have been down there 4 different times. Now we have found old friends living there and want to visit but really are past the travelling stag anymore with our health so that's a bummer. |

Re:TOURISM, Where would you like to visit Date Posted:2022-05-25 06:08:52Copy HTML I know what you mean about the age and traveling problem. You get to the age where you're rich enough and have time enough, then have to stop and spend the night just to be able to drive to the next town which is 25 miles away. I used to love going to new places. The mode of transportation was never an issue; plane, train, car, bus or hitchhiking, it didn't matter. Now I dread even going to the grocery store.

Yes I can see that Shula, but you are much older than I am and know my problems will only get worse by the time I reach your age. Half those modes of transportation weren't even invented until after you were born. hee |

Re:TOURISM, Where would you like to visit Date Posted:2022-05-26 04:12:52Copy HTML Yeah, but you don't look half as good as I do. I think you are related to that boy in 4th grade dance class who told me I smelled good -- for a girl.

Re:TOURISM, Where would you like to visit Date Posted:2022-05-27 05:06:55Copy HTML Yeah, but you don't look half as good as I do. I think you are related to that boy in 4th grade dance class who told me I smelled good -- for a girl. All kidding aside, I don't know how you known that because that was a saying of mind when I was younger. The only time I was ever in a dance class in school was probably grade 7. They mixed the boys and girls together and the female gym teacher was going to teach us square dancing. Being a little popular than most at the time and she knowing it, picked me to do the swing around part. She had more musles that most men and swing me around off my feet like I was a play toy to the joy of the girls in the class. Almost put me off women for life she did. |

Re:TOURISM, Where would you like to visit Date Posted:2022-05-27 03:54:46Copy HTML In elementary school, we had mixed boy/girl gym class on Friday. We also had a course of square dancing and ballroom dancing. It was all good. I don't think they do that sort of thing anymore or not. I don't remember my kids relating horror stories from forced politeness with the opposite sex. I'm not even so sure they require gym classes anymore. It all made us socially acceptable when we got to the dreaded middle school I guess. That's a good story about your gym teacher. You should have earned the nickname "Far-flung Pete" after that. Re:TOURISM, Where would you like to visit Date Posted:2022-05-27 04:34:12Copy HTML I think the mixed Friday gym classes were to "socialize" us. That stopped in middle and high school and it was separate classes from then on. I guess they assumed we had figured out how to socialize on our own by the time we reached age 13.

Always separate gym class for boys & girls from grades 1-12. They always were Tommy but not that day. Now don't laugh when I tell you the next part because after she paired the girls and guys together to practise the different moves, she took a seat on the gym floor with her back against the wall and with her legs apart in a manly postion and not lady like to watch us practise. Sitting in this postion she had nasty looking long dark hair coming out both sides of the crotch part of her little gym suit. It was so noticable and everyone could see it and that was all the boys could only talked about for the rest of the day. I'm sure it embarassed the girls because I could see the girls had noticed it also. It was so bad to look at, someone should have throw her a razor. Junior high or grades 7 and 8 was full of odd ball teachers. In grade 8 we had a female speech and drama teacher with flaming red hair. Near the end of the year a bus took us to Stratford Ontario to see a Shakespeare play of Richard the 3rd. We aren't even out of Toronto and a lot of us smoked at a young age and half the bus lights a cigarette up. The teacher comes down the aisle from the front and I'm thinking she going to give us shit and tell us to put them out but no, she bums one from someone. Then she says as she smoking it, don't smoke your cigarettes down past half way because that's where all the bad stuff is. Never mind that we were all only 12 years old. When posted in Lahr Germany I'm in the Canex grocery store picking up something and I hear this voice behind me say my first name. I turn around and it's the male gym teacher I had in that same Junior high. I ask him what he doing here and he says teaching. I ask him what are you teaching over here, thinking he was going to say health and physical fitness and he says, Religion. I had to smile because I think I learned every bad word I knew from his gym classes. He almost fell over when my wife walked over to me because she had him for a home room teacher. He couldn't believe we were married to each other, I guess thinking we were still both 12 years old. |

Re:TOURISM, Where would you like to visit Date Posted:2022-05-31 03:25:29Copy HTML I'm amazed you've turned as near normal as you are after those early experiences. Life is good and funny at some times and bad and sad at others. I chose to remember the good and funny times if I can. The ones that can still put a smile on my face when ever I think of them. Even now taking to old military buddies from 50 years ago on the phone it doesn't take long before we starting remembering the funny moments we shared. The wife and I were married 4 yrs before our first girl was born in Germany. She turned 50 the other day and along with birhday wishes I posted a picture of her mother the day after she was born at the entrance to the room they kept all the babies in. The wife had a British head nurse more like a Sgt Major and when she delivered the babies to the different mother's in their rooms, she said to my wife, Here she is, Always wet and always hungry. Well the name stuck and we use to tease that daughter about it all the time. When I was clearing out of the Base in Cold Lake, one of the places you had to clear was the Base Hospital. I goes up to the counter and who turns around but the British Nurse. I asked how did you end up here and she said she had left the British military and joined the Canadian one. I mentioned the last time we had meet was in Lahr Germany 17 years ago when she was teaching the Dad's the proper way to bath a baby. She laughed and said I never seen so many men scared of bathing a baby. She use to tell them it's not a doll you holding you know, which give us both a laugh. In that same hospital in Lahr was an old doctor who was dead set against any form of birth control and if you mentioned it he would say, girls should be pregnant the full time between the ages of 14 to 40. This was the same Doctor who had delivered Prince Charles. |
