As a war cry "tax the rich" sounds great, but if you tax them too harshly they'll either no longer be rich or they'll leave so where do you get the money from then? It also encourages the rich to find means of hiding away their wealth.

It is mainly a form of class warfare revenge on the rich via jealousy. It won't work, it never has, it never will, but that won't stop the malicious lefty's. I think we should gather up all of the money in the country and share it out equally and when I've spent my share I think we should gather up all of the money in the country.........

Alternatively it's about tackling the internal threats from Islamists etc. Plus the type of thing I took part in back in the 80s and 90s but updated to include cyber attacks etc. You're getting paranoid again.  

Some of them possibly, as some Christians/Jews/Hindus etc are utter bastards.  

The tax-the-rich politicians are themselves multi-millionaires.  They scream the slogan at rallies but somehow legislation never gets passed by the very ones screaming for the tax.

I agree that Islam is a dangerous cult, but you are going down the route of "all Muslims want to kill us" which is untrue of course. This talk of civil war is nonsense, isolated acts of civil disorder possibly but nothing more. You seem to have the perverted notion that British Muslims are just waiting for the call to rise up and massacre their neighbours! The call has been made, several times and beyond a few individuals ignored.  

Labour has won the Manchester City Mayoral by-election after Andy Burnham vacated it to enter Parliament, Reform came second but a long way behind. The Burnham bounce has seen Labour top the polls this week, only to be expected with a new leader. 

Elected mayors are a relatively new thing over here, since 2000, only the bigger towns and cities have them. In smaller towns like mine the mayor is chosen from among the elected councillors without any direct input from the voters. I can't think of any mayor who has been removed before their time.  

Only the few directly elected Mayors have any real power. Those chosen from councillors, such as the one in my home town, are more ceremonial.
