Re:Politics Date Posted:2025-05-29 06:21:55Copy HTML What freedoms have I lost? Can't think of any. And while I'm here GB is to continue to refer to the Gulf of Mexico as it's official name, that's free speech. Mark, you are the frog in a pan of water on the stove, & the water temperature isn't hot enough to matter to you..........YET! |

Re:Politics Date Posted:2025-05-29 06:30:58Copy HTML How odd, that's exactly as I see you Americans; slowly, without noticing it, falling under the dictatorship of the would-be tyrant Trump. Excusing his excesses and believing his lies in the name of creating a better country is what the Germans did in the 30s. You're playing chess with Fate and Fate's winning.

Re:Politics Date Posted:2025-05-29 06:55:33Copy HTML Mark, I agree about Trump's character, but we are better off now with his policies. For now, anyway. |

Re:Politics Date Posted:2025-05-29 11:27:38Copy HTML Trump is just loud. In reality, he probably isn't doing anything very different from any past president. He just makes sure everyone hears about it. If he does something that is clearly dictatorial and our system doesn't stop it (we have provisions), then the water is already boiling. As for rights, I did find it amusing that Prince Harry called our First Amendment "bonkers". That leads me to think your right to free speech has been a little more infringed at this point than ours. Every political faction in both countries have an agenda designed to chip away the rights of citizens. For some reason, they think we need controlling.

Re:Politics Date Posted:2025-05-30 12:16:14Copy HTML Trump's unabashed corruption has been shrugged off by his MAGA base because it is so open & in keeping with his amoral character. His brazenness almost seems like a form of honesty because he makes no attempt to hide his gold-plated greed. |

Re:Politics Date Posted:2025-05-30 04:09:32Copy HTML All politicians shout transparency as a cornerstone of their platform when they are campaigning, but when someone like Trump really is transparent they lose their minds. There's nothing more that feeds his greed for attention than the Left losing their minds. His base knows it and loves it.

Re:Politics Date Posted:2025-05-31 07:36:58Copy HTML Momentum is everything in politics as the fickle public will dump anybody who doesn’t maintain it. Complacency is another guarantee of the boot. You’re only as good as your last hand out in politics. I think Trump, more than the vast majority of former presidents, does walk a tightrope. |

Re:Politics Date Posted:2025-05-31 05:33:02Copy HTML More new tariffs, does anyone even know what tariffs are on/off any more? I doubt if Trump knows himself. I thought we'd signed a trade deal with the USA? If he's changing the rules, as he's prone to do, then it's time to call off his State Visit and tell him to **** off. You're playing chess with Fate and Fate's winning.

Re:Politics Date Posted:2025-06-01 10:37:49Copy HTML In one of Trump's White House Executive Order signings, he took questions about tariffs. He explained in detail how tariffs work and what they really mean. Of course, I can't recall it all, but in brief, it's a whole lot more than just a tax. Other factors come in like weights and measures. He gave numerous examples of how unbalanced a lot of tariffs are and that's what he is seeking to correct. What do we import from England anyway? What do we export to England? My only real observation point is the grocery store's international section which is woefully small. The produce section has a lot of imported foods. Good grief, we even eat Canadian produce. "It is forbidden to spit on cats in plague-time."
