An epidemic of monkey pox is infesting folks in the U.K. Looks like another mask mandate, quarantine, government sanctions & the like. Boris has introduced a bill to prohibit the English fornicating with monkey. How haughty the English are: First the Irish now the Monkeys.

What next are we going to hear. Art was asking about contraceptives in American in one of his posts wasn't he and also in his next breath he wants to visit Vegas again.

Should maybe enter his name on the no fly list Tommy. Wouldn't hurt, would it.

I see The Pox has now hit the States and Canada. They say the first sign of getting it is hair growing on the palms of your hands.

That's easy to explain Art, they don't allow pissed people at the tables just encase they spill their drink on the playing table. Was an old trick used by people cheating. One guy spills a drink and everyone looks and that's when the cards are traded for winning ones by another guy at the table. Trouble with Vegas is some of your winning goes to taxes and you would have to wait and try and claim it back in England. Even Canadians get clipped this way when they go down. In Canada what you win is all yours to keep including scratch and loto tickets. So if you win the 70 million dollar lotto it's all yours tax free. Scratch tickets and lotos are run by the Province and the extra money from ticket sales is used by the Province to build rec centres, sports centres, rinks and so on.

Besides this monkey pox which I hear now is related to small pox there is another new strain of the virus that has come out in Northern Ontario. It already has an extra dash 1 added to it's name. No deaths reported yet but seems to have the same symtoms as the others milder ones and is more like a cold. How it would act on a person unvaccinated, I don't know.

Not so doubting Tom. Read up on line if you want on win Ontario. All the money goes back to the people in what I said above.

Who does get some money from the Province is the store that sales the winning ticket. Not on the small wins but on the big wins.

Everyones doing fine here Tommy the minimum wage has also gone up.

Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) has announced that the federal minimum wage will increase from $15 to $15.55 per hour on April 1, 2022.

As of 2022, the minimum hourly wage in Nassau County, Suffolk County, and Westchester County is $15.00 an hour. In these counties, the previous minimum wage was $14.00 an hour.

The remaining parts of New York State, not including New York City, increased the minimum wage from $12.50 to $13.20 an hour in 2022. The minimum wage is subject to increase each year until it reaches $15.00 an hour in the remaining counties.

New York City already has a minimum wage rate of $15.00 an hour and saw no increase in 2022.

I looked it up for you Doubting Tom.

Question: Are winnings on Lotto Max taxable?

Answer: There is no tax payable on Lotto Max prizes.

Proceeds from the Ontario Lottery are paid into the Province of Ontario’s Consolidated Revenue Fund, as specified by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation Act. The Act directs that proceeds from lotteries, OLG Slots and OLG casinos be given to charitable organizations, provincial hospitals and sport, recreational and cultural activities.

Each Province and Territory has to do the same.

Pretty well everyone that grew up and went to Candian schools and is 50 or older had the smallpox shots along with every other shot for childhood diseases including boosters. It was manditory.

Right he says.... what's your date of birth? I told him and he says, right, your lucky numbers are blah blah, now pick one and he's online and the roulette wheel spins. I don't win, he tries again and again, no win. I then said, I can't even get a 50/50. Pick red or black... I pick red, it's black. I picked black, it's red and I did that 5 times. OK he says, not wanting top be beat, pick odds or evens. Odds, it's evens, evens, it's odds, twice more and he says, sod that I've just lost £50. You see, he was actually gambling online and wanted to say to me...see I've just won so much and that is you winning, but I showed him.... can't win a gamble.

Those days are gone Tommy, nothing cheaper in the States now. Canada started it's own Black Friday sales etc and you can buy a car or electronic gagets cheaper up here. That's why Buffalo is hurting because Canadians aren't going to the States as much. Your cigarettes and booze might be cheaper but then who can smoke those nasty American Turkish blended cigarettes and Bourbon anyway.

Anyone in the States that wants Cuban cigars can get them by just crossing the border. Yes we have a sales tax but then so does NY State and when you compare the two your is probably higher because of your higher dollar. That is also another factor which has slowed the cross border shopping. When your dollar was closer to par with ours, it was worth it to go south to shop but not now with at least a 25 cent or more difference it's not.

By the way your oil companies profits are though the roof, all at every Americans expense.  They purposely slowed down product to make it happen.

Because they expect you to only play the slots machines, not the tables. You are judged as soon as in walk in if your a high roller or a country bumpkin.

I also have no luck gambling and only liked going to the casino to see the acts that were playing there.

It's even too hard to win on the slots now that they have increased the number of wheels on them. 3 wheels was bad enough but now they have 5. Each wheel added lowers your chances of winning a lot.

I can't win at gambling either.  I've never even gotten the winning raffle ticket for a quilt.  In this year's Kentucky Derby, I joked that I should place a bet on the 81-1 odds horse, Rich Strike.  I bet a quarter on the horse that was favo(u)red.  Rich Strike won.

It was, but sadly we can't hope for a triple crown winner this year as Rich Strike didn't run in the Preakness.  Oddly, I think he will run in the Belmont Stakes.

Too many people made the same mistake as you and didn't bet on the long shot but for sure they will for it in the next race which will drops the odds way down.

When visiting England I use to play the horses but they were doing steelchasing and a lot of the time the ones that were long shots ended up coming in the money because if one horse went down it could take out a few more with it.

For this very reason, I hope the future of warfare comes down to battling robots or drones or whatever.  I'm so sick of wounded men and women and seeing stories about dogs and dolphins being wounded because of politicians' stupid greed.

I have that print framed, but not on display. It's a brilliant depiction of the famous charge of the Scot's Greys, only it never happened. Even the film Waterloo had them charging into the French lines and then their horses being blown, as heavy horses could soon be, attacked by French Lancers and cut to ribbons. The painting by Lady Butler is pure imagination really. The Greys did cut the French to pieces but not like that. By the way, they derived their name from their horse's colour. They were assembled for battle and rising up from a ditch, found the French infantry right in front of them, packed and motionless. They then literally walked straight though them, either trampling them to death or cutting them to pieces. The French were so densely packed they couldn't escape and if they tried they just trampled their own men flat and the Greys rode over them, cutting down any who stopped to fight. For the uninitiated it is hard to imagine the power a single heavy horse carries, they are bulldozers, slow but impossible to stop. It's a great painting though.

Elizabeth, Lady Butler was famous for her dramatic paintings of historic events, among them the Battle of Rorke's Drift in the Zulu War and the Retreat from Kabul in the First Afghan War (below).

Poor horses.

Why do you think then that I posted it in the first place after saying in the post before that the greys seem to like running in a wet to muddy track. Your are right though about it being a great painting.

She seemed to like painting horses.

This monkey pox seems to be spreading badly, especially in the States where over 1/3 of the world cases seem to be. Seems they are short on vaccines, but Biden is having them ramp up production.

So Tommy, stay out of those men only turkish baths at least until they get more vaccine.
