With the coronation coming up it's only right that we should have a page devoted to HM King Charles III.

Although the coronation is billed as a slimmed down affair I trust it will be a grand enough spectacle. It's what most of us want, ignore the mean-spirited anti-Monarchists and those whining about cost. As someone in The Daily Telegraph said last week, we want snaggle-toothed Lords in full ermine!

Judging by the list of ancient traditions being observed we'll see individuals carrying St Edward's Staff, the sceptre with dove (eh?), the Sword of Offering, the Sword of Spiritual Justice, the Sword of Temporal Justice, the Sword of Mercy and the spurs (eh? again) among other arcane things. Lovely stuff, bring it on!

With King Charles' desire for inclusivity and diversity (yawn) we'll see a disproportionately large number of ethnics involved in the ceremony, but that's the world we live in now.

Charles made the font page of Newsmax magazine. "A King Is Born" Charles III becomes Britain's head of state during a most perilous time.

Serves him right for choosing the same date as our Kentucky Derby. The Lord above is punishing him for his arrogance.

Nostradamus predicted 450 years that King Charles III would not be on the throne for long & the crown would pass to an unsuspecting heir. So it passes William & goes to Harry. You heard it here first. Nostrathomas

The first part is likely, he's 74; the second less so, between him and Harry there are fourth lives.

Well, Tom may want to bring me in for questioning -- my sanity.  I am leaving the television on all night tuned to the channel showing the coronation which apparently begins at 4:00 a.m here in the Colonies.  I'm sure I'll wake up around that time.

TV coverage has started here, but the main event begins at 1020, now it's just spotting who's arriving at the Abbey and watching the troops arrive.

Going to my sister's soon for a family Coronation Day Event, hopefully she's made a Coronation Quiche.

I'm on the job too, watching all the guests being interviewed. I've just had my bacon butty and pint of Rosie Lee and I'm settled in. It's looking fantastic, what an occasion but I'm a bit disappointed not to get an invite.

A magnificent spectacle spoilt a little by the weather, the processions there and back would have looked even better in the sunshine.

As for the ceremony in the Abbey; marvellously Mediaeval, marvellously anachronistic and marvellously British! God only knows how much all the bling on view is worth. And as far as I could see no trouble, nothing the TV cameras showed anyway.

I felt an overwhelming sense of history inside the Abbey, it would have been very much like that hundreds of years ago, minus the Gospel Choir of course.

Headlines - A new King with progressive politics takes over a vulnerable monarchy. What do we know about him? He has forward looking views on everything from environment to education & architecture. The breakdown of his first marriage attracted more media attention than any split in modern times. His recent estrangement from Harry has raised eyebrows, especially after Harry's interviews & book. King Charles III is intriguing for two reasons. How does his fill his mother's shoes, & His age & ability to tackle the formidable tasks ahead.

The ceremony was wonderfully performed.  I loved every part.  Today also being Kentucky Derby Day, I took special note of the horses in the coronation.  Today I was glad of technology.  I got to see a medieval coronation that was real.  At the same time, it was quietly modern.

Unhappy Namesakes King Charles I from 1600-1649 was shy & insecure, lacked vision & charisma. Ignited a civil war in England claiming thousands of lives. Convicted of treason & executed in 1649. King Charles II 1630-1685 The Scots were horrified when Charles I was executed & England became a republic. They proclaimed his son king & invited him to Scotland. In 1660 he was invited back to London & restored to his father's throne. He had no legitimate children & died of a stroke in 1685. King Charles III - the jury is out.

I was up and watched it Shula. Only one thing bothered me and that was when the King and Queen came out on the balcony and waved to the masses with their crowns on making them look more like court jesters than my King and Queen.

Nice crowns but terrible fitting. The weight may have had something to do with it.

Had to smile at the young lad 3rd in line to be King. He yawned through the whole Church service.

Over all a good turn out by the masses that showed up from all over the world. Was surprised how many were Americans. They came by the plane load apparently.

I agree about the Crowns, they're obviously never meant to be worn for any length of time, symbols of the State.

The idea of a Coronation is rather anachronistic, no European Monarchs are crowned these days other than the British. It remains in use in some of the east Asian and south African Monarchies, although not on such a grand scale as in GB.

Incest & abnormalities have plagued the royals from the beginning. Has to do with keeping the bloodline pure by marrying your sister or double cousins. King George III had Porphyria which caused him to piss blue (maybe he was a blue blood) & foam at the mouth. He had to be given ice baths & placed in a straitjacket when having fits. Queen Victoria passed hemophilia on to the royals of Europe & as a result caused the Russian Revolution. So we can blame the communist menace we face today on her. Following is a short list of royals who had genetic disorders & mutations: King Charles II of Spain Ferdinand I of Austria Elizabeth of Bavaria Ludwig II of Bavaria Joanna of Castile King Tut of Egypt Caligula Nero

Elizabeth of Bavaria, wife of the Austrian Emperor Franz Josef had an eating disorder, we'd call in anorexia today. Nevertheless she looks a beauty in portraits.

An eating disorder? C'mon Mark, she married & bred with her first cousin & she had a lot more eccentricities than just that. Anorexia Indeed!
