Date Posted:2024-05-22 05:07:53Copy HTML Let's have a new page for the UK and US Elections 2024. Ours has been called early for 4 July. Labour will win and Sir Keir Starmer will be Prime Minister on 5 July ending 14 years of Conservative government. My guess is that the Labour majority won't be as large as some are predicting (over100 seats) more like 30-50 perhaps. You're playing chess with Fate and Fate's winning.

Re:Elections 2024 Date Posted:2024-12-31 12:52:23Copy HTML Tommy says that I come from a military background because I served, my father and 3 uncles served in the second war with one uncle killed. My grandfather and a great uncle served with the grandfather wounded and after 9 months in hospital released from service in 1916 and the great uncle killed in 1917. The two silk screens are from the Family bible so I wonder if the one that served in these Regiment make it home Also had two great uncles on the mothers side that served in the Royal Navy in the first war. Both made it home after the war. To Mark and Art. Do you think those two silk's above would have any value to a British historian or military collector? |

Re:Elections 2024 Date Posted:2024-12-31 08:46:18Copy HTML I would think they' be of interest and value to a collector, an internet search should give you an idea of their worth, plus pointers as to who might want them. Tommy here might know more about it being in the business himself. You're playing chess with Fate and Fate's winning.

Tommy here might know more about it being in the business himself. Good advice from Mark. Look into an internet auction or Ebay for ideas. I recently sold different items that went to Sweden & Tasmania that way. Age, condition, rarity, all factor into the value, if you are not looking to sell, a museum would take the donation of such items. |

To have had those two silks you would have had to be in those Regiments during the Crimean War so that's the time frame you have to check Tommy. I did check Ebay and nothing like it so must be really rare. |

Re:Elections 2024 Date Posted:2024-12-31 01:58:57Copy HTML Pete, when you say "silks" these are actually Regimental banners or flags? Who would have been awarded them? Surely not everyone in the Regiment. |

Re:Elections 2024 Date Posted:2025-01-01 07:22:07Copy HTML I'm getting really concerned for the welfare of Pete. Does the panel think this election result might have tipped him over the edge? Has he thrown himself under a tank? Sorry to disappoint you Arthur I have been very busy looking after the wife and having contractors in remodelling the bathroom to the tune of 30k. Today I was out doing the grocery shopping and picking out and paying for a new fridge, stove washing machine and clothes dryer. Right now the wife hasn't even see the remodel because she is on high levels of oxygen 24/7 and can't do stairs yet so has to you use the downstairs washroom. She was in hospital for 21 days with pneumonia and now have all her meds in blister pack just so I can keep up with all of them. As for the tank on my front lawn, Trudeau had it picked up and shipped to Ukraine. Re:Elections 2024 Date Posted:2025-01-01 10:00:12Copy HTML The charge of the Light Brigade, October 1854; The 17th Lancers were in the first line of cavalry (on the left of the picture) on the left flank (towards the front of the picture) My grandfather’s second regiment in WW1. After the war they were amalgamated with the 21st Lancers, which annoyed my grandfather and the 17th no end because they arrived at the party with no battle honours to their name. The 17th joked that their regimental motto was, though shalt not kill |

We had a British exchange officer with us in Germany who was with the 17th/21Lancers. He was also SAS. He almost drown me one March swimming on a fast moving river that was free of ice. We had web gear and helmets on so you can see the problem especially when you freeze up when you first enter the cold water and don't seem to be making any progress. |

Re:Elections 2024 Date Posted:2025-01-02 08:44:24Copy HTML It's good to have you back to counter the Trump nonsense we're hearing. Some of what you say is nonsense too, but it equals out. You're playing chess with Fate and Fate's winning.
