Re:Don't Start Another Date Posted:2022-12-07 08:07:55Copy HTML That sanctimonious tit, James Cameron, has labelled testosterone a toxic chemical men must terminate from their system. Now, does anybody spot a touch of irony in the idiot’s statement? Terminate? Considering his fortune was made out of a testosterone fuelled franchise called The Terminator there is. How dare mother nature do this to men? Maybe he could make a new film where the whole of male humanity has it removed at birth and when the Terminator comes back to earth he pulls the hair and scratches his adversaries eyes out. What a wanker |

Re:Don't Start Another Date Posted:2022-12-07 12:44:24Copy HTML The world would have changed beyond all recognition in those 70 years. The British record is the 55 years 4 months served by child-killer John Straffen from 1951 until his death in 2007. He killed two girls in 1951 and was sent to an asylum without a trial aged 21. But he escaped in 1952 and murdered a third girl before being recaptured. He died at the age of 77. You're playing chess with Fate and Fate's winning.

Re:Don't Start Another Date Posted:2022-12-07 05:31:16Copy HTML Perhaps the "sentence" was determined in pre-trial hearings where he was deemed unable to tell the difference between right and wrong as well as being unable to assist in his own defense.

Could be Shula, it was "without trial" that piqued my interest. I have had a case where the verdict was not guilty due to insanity. The perp went to an asylum until deemed sane & then to Attica for the remainder of his sentence. He just got out several years ago. |

Re:Don't Start Another Date Posted:2022-12-07 07:12:57Copy HTML Guilty but insane in 1951, he was deemed unfit to plead and sent to Broadmoor, the UK's top asylum for the dangerously insane. However after his escape and recapture he was tried for the murder committed whilst on the run and convicted, so somewhere along the line they decided he had become sane and therefore spent the remainder of his life in a series of conventional prisons, which sounds very odd to me. You're playing chess with Fate and Fate's winning.

Re:Don't Start Another Date Posted:2022-12-07 07:45:52Copy HTML Insanity is a great get out clause, which works, especially with lefty advocates, who think that too many murderers are somehow victims. The plea of insanity is a viable condition but on a tiny percentage of those that plead it. C'mon, its the go to excuse for the psychotic and devious and it works on too many occasions for my liking. In my book, anybody who kills another person for no reason whatsoever should be charged with a new criminal condition of murder by sadistic enjoyment. |

Re:Don't Start Another Date Posted:2022-12-08 08:49:10Copy HTML It was only of use years ago to escape the hangman, these days you'll be locked away regardless, but in an asylum for the criminally insane which is probably a worse fate than going to a conventional prison. You're playing chess with Fate and Fate's winning.

Re:Don't Start Another Date Posted:2022-12-08 03:08:29Copy HTML Charles "Sonny" Liston was heavyweight champion of the boxing world who learned to box while in prison. He stood 6'1" & weighed 210 lbs. & had a enormous hands with a fist measurement of 15.6 inches. He had an astounding reach of 84" & by today's standards would be a midget. Example is Tyson Fury 6'9" with a reach of only an inch more at 85." |

Re:Don't Start Another Date Posted:2022-12-08 10:31:34Copy HTML If the parachute fabric in question was silk, their actions were totally justified. Most of the silk came from Japan so they couldn't get any during the second war. They ended up switching to a nylon fabric. I had an aunt that made parachutes during the second war in Toronto. After the war they switched to making all kinds of different threats. |

Re:Don't Start Another Date Posted:2022-12-08 11:07:35Copy HTML Interesting, I see that Canada is going to allow the voluntary euthanasia of mental health patients. Don't do it Pete, socialism is a mental disease, granted, but we'll all council you. The euthanasia business is thriving in Canada with 10,000 going for broke last year alone. Most senior Brits go by this way. Not by choice of theirs, but by choice by their Doctors. America and Canada are no different. If they think you are past the point of no return them you are given morphine in larger doses and pass quietly in the night. |

For the most part an insanity plea is hard to get. The prosecution brings in experts to say the defendant is sane & knew what he was doing, & the defense brings in other experts to say he is not. To get a guilty verdict you must prove knowledge & intent. |

Re:Don't Start Another Date Posted:2022-12-09 12:24:27Copy HTML We're experiencing a cold snap over here. In previous years this would be normal, but after a last winter was relatively mild and a mild start to this winter it feels perishingly cold. Plus the TV and Press are billing it as a near apocalypse. I'll put money on all those who said in the summer they weren't going to put the heating on in the winter due to the cost will have rapidly dropped that pledge this week. Where I am it's forecast to be about -3C overnight and no more than 3c during the day, it all began on Wednesday and is thought to continue for a week or more at least. Re:Don't Start Another Date Posted:2022-12-10 03:24:27Copy HTML Christmas carols may not mean what you think & the history of some of them were dubious to say the least.
O Come, All Ye Faithful, composed in 1740 by John Francis Wade as Adeste Fideles. Lyrics contained what many saw as restoring Charles Edward Stuart, aka "Bonnie Prince Charlie", a Catholic to the British throne. |

Re:Don't Start Another Date Posted:2022-12-10 06:30:50Copy HTML To be strictly accurate it wasn't Charles Edward Stuart they wanted to place on the Throne in 1740 but his father James (Francis) Edward Stuart, the son of the deposed King James II. Charles only became the Stuart claimant upon his father's death in 1766. Quite a few poems and songs etc from that age have their origins in the Jacobite movement. Charles only became the Stuart claimant upon his father's death in 1766. Quite a few poems and songs etc from that age have their origins in the Jacobite movement. I have never been known for being strictly accurate, Mark. See somewhat accurate. Silent Night - Born of War & Climate Change In the fall of 1816, a young parish priest named Joseph Mohr was in a parish in a small alpine village of Austria. He composed a set of six poetic verses that became the Christmas carol Silent Night. Mohr composed the verses to reassure his poverty-stricken & hungry congregation that God & Jesus still loved them. The Napoleonic Wars left Austria devastated & a year earlier the eruption of Mount Tambora in Indonesia had unleashed tons of ash in the atmosphere causing climate change in Europe called "the year without summer causing crop failures & widespread famine. Mohr set to verse a need for calmness in this chaos. "Silent night, holy night. All is calm, all is bright. Round yon Virgin, mother & child. Holy infant, so tender & mild. Sleep in heavenly peace, sleep in heavenly peace." |

Re:Don't Start Another Date Posted:2022-12-10 09:59:56Copy HTML Somebody stop me before I Karen. Our local weather girl, who, I hasten to add, is accurate, pleasant to look at and has a nice speaking voice, has been referring to 21 December as the winter equinox for the past two weeks. It's been like fingernails on a chalk board. If I call in a correction that it is the winter solstice, not an equinox, I come off as a Karen. If I don't correct her, I'll feel like a schlump for not stepping up. Maybe she will correct herself and I won't have to have an OCD meltdown. Best case scenario, someone else will call in a correction. Otherwise, until December 21st, it's SCREEECH.
