The longest fence in the world is in Australia. It is slightly longer than the distance between N.Y. & London. Called the "Dingo Fence" for keeping the wild dogs out of places where they shouldn't be.

One of my favourite films of the post war years, along with Scrooge.

The greatest Scrooge? Got to be Alastair Simm. Dicken’s  A Christmas Carol, is said to have invented modern Christmas

A New Orleans couple clearing brush from their backyard unveiled the 1,900-year-old grave marker of Roman sailor Sextus Congenius Verus. An investigation revealed that the gravestone had gone missing after the bombing of Civitaveccia during WWII. The former homeowner revealed that she was given the stone by her grandparent's, an American stationed in Italy during the war & his Italian war bride, & she did not know what it was & used it as a garden decoration. It will be returned to Italy for a happy ending to the story.

Trump winging his way home from his latest "Big, Beautiful" trip to meet with the yellow hordes of the far east. The "Great" news is the deal with the Chinks as follows. They will buy soybeans from our farmers. They will stop selling fentanyl to our drug addicts. We will buy more Chinese junk from our local Walmart's. Sounds like a Win Win eh. Nobody has seen anything like it before. Oh, add Trump will drop tariffs on China & help the South Koreans build a nuke sub. Once Trump gets back, he will end some more wars & finish building the Melania Ballroom.

At a recent World Series baseball game, Harry & Megan Markle were seated in front of Hall of Fame Dodger pitcher Sandy Koufax. This raised the ire of broadcaster Howie Rose who mentioned it by saying Koufax was the real royalty here & the Markle's were international freeloaders. Imagine that?

Yesterday the King announced that a new law will soon be enacted to strip Prince Andrew of all of his titles, including that of Prince, thus he will become Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

I mistakenly thought that the Titles Deprivation Act of 1917 would have been deployed rather than the necessity of a new law, but on closer inspection the 1917 Act was aimed solely at Peers who adhered to the enemy in the First World War. So a new law is required to remove a Peer's title(s) for more recent transgressions. I assume it won't be aimed solely at Prince Andrew, but will be on the statute book for future use against any Peer. In this "moral" age I can see there being constant appeals to the Act to punish any Peer whom the public take a dislike to.

Mark, if this is a "moral" age, could the prior age be an "immoral" age. You know with the audacious conduct of the royals & peers compared to that of the "normal" folk.

You know what folk are like these days. It was a move by the King to protect the Monarchy from those who say it's not acting against Prince Andrew, whom it seems is the greatest villain the world has ever seen.

Once this Act goes through there will be no end of trouble with Prince Harry first in the firing line. A mistake in my opinion.

Dunno about "these" days, seems to me the "Randy Andy" title goes back a long way. Perhaps that "handle" was more humorous than serious back then?

Andrew? Never mind taking a few quid from him, or moving him from one free mansion to another, just jail the bastard.

He's a right bastard.  (I'm learning English as my second language.)

Andrew and Fergie both should have quietly retired a few years ago.  Second sons have always caused trouble for the Monarchy.  The Markles will be getting lot of ink.

Walmart halts H-1B visa hiring. A sign that businesses will make major changes in hiring foreign workers. This in response to a new $100,000 fee on H-1B applications. Critics say the H-1B program undermines employment of skilled U.S. workers. Business owner's call it a key source of global talent.
