Date Posted:2022-09-13 12:19:01Copy HTML The longest fence in the world is in Australia. It is slightly longer than the distance between N.Y. & London. Called the "Dingo Fence" for keeping the wild dogs out of places where they shouldn't be. Live respected, die regretted

Re:Don't Start Another Date Posted:2023-12-23 11:37:54Copy HTML Do U.K. websites use biscuits instead of cookies? Biscuits and cookies are two different things. You put different things on biscuits like butter or jam. You don't do the same to cookies. Never drank tea on a Centurion, only instant coffee with powdered coffee mate and sugar. What we drank most of was canned beer. That way you didn't have to worry about bad water and getting the poops. At the time it was much cheaper to buy beer in Europe than it was to buy Coca cola. |

Re:Don't Start Another Date Posted:2024-09-08 07:37:04Copy HTML There's a long definition on Wikipedia, too long to untangle here. For Brits we simplify it as a race of invaders (later settlers) from Scandinavia who descended on these shores in the early Mediaeval period. You're playing chess with Fate and Fate's winning.

Re:Don't Start Another Date Posted:2025-05-07 10:59:55Copy HTML Now the British wouldn't know this but who was the first radio sponsor for the NHL and who took over in 1934? Labatt? Peter Puck? No cigar. In 1934, Imperial Oil of Canada took over the sponsorship from General Motors Products of Canada and the broadcast became known as the Imperial Esso Hockey Broadcast. If you had been watching the NHL as of late, you should have heard this. |

Re:Don't Start Another Date Posted:2025-05-15 01:59:58Copy HTML Not quite an original, but ancient nevertheless. The originals, such as the one in Salisbury, date from 1215, the one at Harvard is a copy made in 1300. So old yes, but original, no. You're playing chess with Fate and Fate's winning.

Re:Don't Start Another Date Posted:2025-05-16 12:53:57Copy HTML Fruit punch was invented by sailors of the British East India Company because their beer would spoil in the heat. Rum was mixed with fruit to create the alcoholic delight. |

Re:Don't Start Another Date Posted:2025-05-17 12:07:18Copy HTML It didn't start with the gas chambers. It started with the politicians dividing the people with "us vs. Them." The intolerance & hate speech, & when people stopped caring & turned a blind eye, it became a slippery slope to genocide. |

Re:Don't Start Another Date Posted:2025-05-17 07:30:12Copy HTML Most democracies live under a certain degree of "us and them" but rarely does it get to the point of demonizing "them" as enemies who should be eliminated. But we're seeing that attitude gaining ground recently. No political party takes power with the intention of destroying the country, but some go along that route in the mistaken belief that they're doing the right thing. You're playing chess with Fate and Fate's winning.
