This refers to juries & with the difficulty in achieving jury pools with 12 diverse peers, coupled with the Covid epidemic has resulted in juries with only 6 members. Some say smaller juries undermine confidence in verdicts. Others say the Magna Carta influenced our founding fathers in understanding that a jury mean 12. Problem is the Constitution does not specify that or any number. |

At the moment only the most minor are dealt with by a magistrate only, but there's such a backlog that there are plans to extend it to crimes punishable by no more than two years imprisonment.
