Several passengers only booked for these short trips thereby avoiding disaster, Others of course joined the ill-fated ship at those two ports. 22 got off at Cherbourg while 274 got on. At Queenstown it was seven off (including a crewman who jumped ship) and 120 got on. The last photograph of the Titanic as she sailed away was taken by one of those who disembarked at Queenstown.
No smoke from the 4th funnel, only there for show. |

No smoke from the 4th funnel, only there for show. Can't see the pleasure in wanting to go down and view a pile of rubble, can you? Seeing the rubble on video was good enough for me. Would like to hear the crewman's story who jumped ship though. Surely someone interviewed him after. |

They will now carry the stigma of having a less than an honorable discharge from service for the rest of their lives which could have an impact on future employment. Add the fact that future enlistment by young people may be negatively affected. |

It won't happen as some of those convicted were genuinely reckless. It might work if each conviction was looked at individually, but that of course will take time, time the justice system doesn't have with its backlog of other more urgent matters. The reason for the bible is obvious, but why raise your right hand? Because eons ago, prisoners given early release were branded with a tattoo on their right thumb. Examples are "T" for theft, or "F" for felon. With the tattoo being obvious to the court so they could make a proper decision as to the accuracy of the person's testimony. |
